Shahan Islam

Director of Religious Education

Shahan has been involved in numerous leadership roles at Unitarian Universalist congregations in Westport, CT and Croton, NY. He has founded a thriving Youth exchange program, supervised conferences, Bridging, and Coming of Age, and was Youth Program Coordinator  at UU Westport. Shahan retired from 38 years as an intellectual property attorney, and brings attention to detail as well as great enthusiasm to our congregation. He was born in Bangladesh, grew up in Ohio, has two degrees from Columbia University (in Mineral Engineering and German Literature), and a Juris Doctor from Tulane. His many hobbies include numerous languages, stand-up comedy and board game development. He lives in Wilton with his wife Teryl and has three children and two step children. Shahan has an easygoing nature, integrity and dedication.
